Sign in to the Google Account that you use for Google Photos. Select to back up only photos or videos, or all files. Select any folders you want to back up. Under “Photo & video upload size,” select your upload size. Notes: If you remove a photo or video from your computer, it remains in Google Photos. Since Google drive does no more sync with Google Photos I also need an updated version of Google Photos backup for Mac OS Catalina as the current version 4.3.2.1 is no more supported Google user recommended this. The Google Photos app - available on iOS and Android - can back up your photos to your Gmail account. I have photos backed up all the way from 2014, when I first made the transition to Android.

To see the size of a specific file or folder, click it once and then press Command-I. To see storage information about your Mac, click the Apple menu in the top-left of your screen. Choose About This Mac and click the Storage tab. For Time Machine backups, it's good to use a drive that has at least twice the storage capacity of your Mac.
